Our products are designed with love in the U.S. and responsibly made in China. We work closely with manufacturing partners who specialize in puzzles, wooden games, and premium packaging — many of whom are leaders in their craft and the best in their industries worldwide.

These relationships are personal to us. We’ve spent time getting to know our factory partners, understanding their processes, and collaborating on quality and safety every step of the way. Every product is independently lab-tested to meet U.S. child safety standards, and every detail is made with care.

There is also a deep cultural relevance to where our products are made. Many of the stories, symbols, and traditions we celebrate — including Mahjong — have roots in China. Partnering with manufacturers there allows us to honor that cultural lineage, support artisans who have generational expertise, and ensure the designs remain true to their heritage while remaining joyful and accessible for families today.

Yes, absolutely. Safety is a top priority for us. All Bo & Mei products undergo third-party lab testing to meet or exceed U.S. child product safety standards, including:

• CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission)
  
• ASTM / CPSIA standards
  
• Testing for small parts, lead, phthalates, and mechanical safety

We work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure materials are safe, durable, and appropriate for children. We are parents too — we create products we trust for our own families first.

Each product lists a recommended age range on its packaging and product page.

Generally:

• Story Puzzles & Craft Kits: Ages 3+
  
• Mahjong Together (beginner levels): Ages 3+ with adult supervision
  
• Advanced Mahjong Levels: Ages 6+ as gameplay skills grow
  

We believe in intergenerational play, so our products are intentionally designed to be enjoyed together — child and grown-up side by side.

Some of our products (like wooden mahjong tiles) use natural materials, which means small variations in grain, color, and texture are completely normal — and part of their charm.

However, if something feels off in a way that affects usability or experience, please reach out. We genuinely want you to love your product.

Yes, for products still in stock — we keep a small supply of extra pieces for exactly this reason.

If something gets lost or damaged during play, we’ll help you replace it so your family can keep enjoying the product for years to come.

Bo (寶) means “treasure.”
Mei (美) means “beautiful.”

Together, their names represent the “beautiful treasure” of the cultures we want to pass onto the next generation.
